National Results For Marijuana Legalization

The following results were obtained from CNN Election Center, and relate to the marijuana ballot measures on 6 different states.

Issue 5, establishes a system for the cultivation, acquisition and distribution of medical marijuana for qualifying patients through nonprofit medical marijuana dispensaries and granting those nonprofit dispensaries limited immunity; providing that qualifying patients shall not be subject to criminal or civil penalties or other forms of discrimination for engaging in or assisting with the patients’ medical use of marijuana.

Amendment 64 removes all legal penalties for personal possession of up to one ounce of marijuana and for the home-growing of up to six marijuana plants, similar to the number allowed under current medical marijuana laws, in an enclosed locked space.

Question 3 eliminates state criminal and civil penalties related to the medical use of marijuana, allowing patients meeting certain conditions to obtain marijuana produced and distributed by new state-regulated centers or, in specific hardship cases, to grow marijuana for their own use.

Initiative 124, ratifies restrictions on medical marijuana that the state’s legislature put in place in 2011. It permits patients to grow marijuana or designate a provider; limits each marijuana provider to three patients; prohibits marijuana providers from accepting anything of value in exchange for services or products; grants local governments authority to regulate marijuana providers; establishes specific standards for demonstrating chronic pain; and reviews the practices of doctors who certify marijuana use for 25 or more patients in a 12-month period.

Measure 80 regulates, taxes and manages marijuana for adults 21+ in Oregon.

I-502 licenses and regulates marijuana production, distribution, and possession for persons over twenty-one; removes state-law criminal and civil penalties for activities that it authorizes; tax marijuana sales; and earmark marijuana-related revenues.
