Without the ACA neither my wife, our youngest son, nor me will ever have health insurance ever again, due to no fault of our own! I had health insurance since the 1960s, but when I was diagnosed with hepatitis-c 19 years after a blood transfusion after a minor dental operation went bad, I got dumped. It turns out that my transfusion in the fall of 1987 occurred 4 years before there was any test to ensure that the transfusion blood supply didn’t contain the virus. 1987 was back in the days when big city blood banks paid heroin addicts $20/pint for their blood.

My wife got t-boned by a drunken Mexican with no driver’s license or insurance, and our youngest son was born with medical issues. He is now age 19, and both he and now my wife are pre-existing conditions too. Is that fair that the three of us can’t get medical insurance ever again in the US, the country that we were all born in, because of no fault of our own?

You want to talk about healthcare costs, between 2001 and 2009 my boss’s group health insurance went up from $129/month to $599/month, plus all of the additional copays and lost benefits, such as mental health care or formulary drugs which the insurance company cut-out paying for, and since 2009 his insurance has only gone up another $127/month too, which I think is a big improvement, though there is still work to do to rein-in runaway health care and health insurance costs.

So we won’t be signing your ridiculous hateful and discriminatory petition, as our only chance to enjoy fairly normal lives is for the ACA to remain law.
