FOX News: Former Marine Arrested For Anti-Governmet Speech On Facebook

August 22, 2012

in Front Page, Government, U.S. Constitution

FOX News is reporting on Brandon Raub’s recent arrest. Predictably this interview becomes a two against one scenario, with FOX News siding with the authoritarian and police state apologists.

Many of the issues that were subject to debate have in fact already been decided by law.

Here are two examples for your reference:

When Is a Death Threat Free Speech?

The Brandon Raub quote in this clip is not in fact a quote. Brandon was actually citing a portion of the lyrics to a song by a popular rap group known as “The Swollen Members”. To this date no members of “The Swollen Members” has been detained against their will in a psychiatric hospital.

Well, on one hand, would FOX News have condoned putting Thomas Jefferson in psychological detention for his comment on “watering the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants.” ?

Yet at the same time, I think anyone trying to promote the Freedom Message in today’s environment needs to be REALLY careful about what they say, and how they say it, and how they quote. To many people are afraid of nearly everything now, and we cannot expect Rationality & Rights to rule the day.

There ARE many people who don’t agree with Ben Franklin’s assertion that it’s better for 1,000 guilty men go free than for one innocent man to be unjustly punished. Many people are more than wiling to break some eggs to make an omelet. (Until THEY become the breakfast menu, of course.)

Unfortunately, while the Constitution & Bill of Rights says the authorities SHOULD not do certain things, the fact is, they CAN, because they have the power & weapons, and the will, to back it up. We do not yet have the level of **publicly accepted** moral authority to challenge the “authorities” without challenge. Enough people have NOT come up against the harsh realities of The State yet. Too many people still think the all-pwerful State is mostly a good thing.

So anyone trying to make a change in a peaceful way MUST take that reality into account. So, rather than quote the rapper and “severing heads,” at very least, stick to Thomas Jefferson. They might STILL throw you in jail. But what do you think they’d do to Jesus Christ (whether actual or metaphorical) if he tried to push the Money Changers out of the Temple with his whip today? But at least more people might take your words & thoughts seriously. IF you can get your side of the story out. … A VERY big “if.”

And I really wish there WAS a way to re-open the 9-11 investigation to a truly neutral third party, and get more of what happened out to the public. Then, at least, no one could say that the 9-11 Truth Movement is just plain nuts. And maybe they’d start seeing the DarK Side of The Machine. But with that information not well distributed among the public, 9-11 Truth advocates are easy targets, and they need to realize that, and act accordingly.

Alex Jones can get away with a lot of stuff because he has so many followers. He would not be an easy target to take out, because so many people would see that as proof of bad intent by government. But if you don’t have that many people rooting for you, you have to be very careful. Ask yourself where you’d be more effective, free and somewhat restrained, or in jail and little way to communicate to the outside world?

This is a game of Strategy & Tactics with increasingly high stakes now, and we are still at the point where education is the best weapon, not verbal or physical attacks. William Wilberforce did it against England’s slave trade, and won, without firing a shot. That’s more than we can say for Good Old “Honest” Abe Lincoln (who probably didn’t really want to free the slaves anyway). But when it comes to methods of social change, I’d rather learn from Wilberforce, not Lincoln.
